How to take a screenshot or screen recording on your phone

Taking a screenshot or screen recording to help us resolve any technical issues

If you've experienced an issue with the app, sending a screenshot or screen recording can help our customer support team with troubleshooting or escalating to the appropriate teams internally. This article walks you through how to take screenshots and screen recordings on your iPhone or Android device. Please note that these instructions work for most newer devices but may vary slightly depending on the model of your device and the operating system version.

Taking a screenshot:

Android:

  1. Open the screen that you're wanting to capture

  2. Press the power button and the volume-down button at the same time

  3. A preview of the screenshot will be viewable at the bottom left corner of the screen, or you can access it in your Google Photos app:

    • Tap 'Library' from the bottom navigation bar then select the 'Screenshots' folder to view and share

iPhone:

  1. Open the screen that you're wanting to capture

  2. Quickly press and release the power button and the volume-up button at the same time

  3. A preview of the screenshot will be viewable at the bottom left corner of the screen, or you can access it in your Photos app

Taking a screen recording:

Android:

  1. Open the screen where you'd like to begin recording

  2. Swipe down from the top of your screen

  3. Tap 'Screen record'

    • Note: you may need to swipe right to find it or tap the pencil icon under your shortcuts to add 'Screen record' to your list of quick settings

  4. Tap 'Start' to begin recording your screen β€” you'll see a 3-second countdown at the top of your screen before recording actually begins

  5. Replicate the issue you experienced in the Mob app

  6. When finished, swipe down from the top of your screen, then tap 'Stop' to end your recording

  7. You'll see a preview of the recording as a phone notification, or you can access it in your Google Photos app:

    • Tap 'Library' from the bottom navigation bar then select the 'Movies' folder to view and share

iPhone:

  1. Open the screen where you'd like to begin recording

  2. Swipe down from the top right corner of your screen to open the control center

    • Note: you may need to add the screen recording widget to your control center by going to Settings >> Control Center >> tap '+' next to Screen Recording

  3. Tap the record button () to begin recording your screen β€” you'll see a 3-second countdown before recording actually begins

  4. Replicate the issue you experienced in the Mob app

  5. When finished, tap the red status bar at the top of your screen, then select 'Stop' to end your recording

  6. The recording will automatically be saved to your Photos gallery
